Wilma June Koeneke

Wilma June Koeneke, one of three daughters of William and Fannie (Deubelbeiss) Imhof, was born June 23, 1932, at Falls City, Nebraska. Wilma grew up attending school in Falls City.

On April 8, 1951, Wilma was united in marriage to Donald L. Koeneke. The couple would be blessed with one son, Timothy. Wilma and Don made their first home in the Humboldt area before moving to Johnson, Nebraska.

While in Humboldt, Wilma worked at a café. She was then employed at the Danny Dare Sewing Factory in Auburn before working for 30+ years at the grocery store in Johnson.

After Don’s passing in 2010, Wilma remained living in their home in Johnson. She enjoyed spending winters in Arizona with their son Tim and his wife Rena. Wilma also attended the Methodist Church in Johnson.

Wilma had complications with her vision and when she was no longer comfortable in her own home, she moved to the Gold Crest Retirement Center in Adams. It was there that she passed away on Monday, January 6, 2025, having reached the age of 92 years, 6 months, and 14 days. Besides her husband, Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters Verna Kammerer and Theone Kuhlman.

Those left to mourn her passing include her son and daughter-in-law Tim and Rena of Hickman; grandson Bryan and wife Emily Koeneke of Kochel, Germany, their children Avelina and Isa; granddaughter Kelly Koeneke of Lincoln; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Wilma’s wishes were to be cremated with a private family burial of ashes to be held at a later date in the Johnson Cemetery at Johnson.
