Alice Virginia McCauley was born on May 27, 1926 to Maye (Blankenship) and Lem Fondren in Brinkley, Arkansas. The family moved to Belzoni (Gooden Lake), Mississippi where Virginia grew up and attended Humphreys County High School. In 1942, the family moved to Kerman, California where Virginia attended Kerman High School.
Virginia loved music. She played piano for radio gospel quartets and served as the church pianist at her church in California for many years. She was also an avid quilter.
Virginia worked for the Travelers Insurance Company in Fresno, California for 25 years and after her retirement moved to Auburn, Nebraska. In October 2016, due to ill health, Virginia entered the Good Samaritan Home in Auburn where she was lovingly cared for until her death on Friday, December 16, 2016.
Virginia was active in both of the area churches in which she served: Zion United Church of Christ, Talmage, NE and Auburn First Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her four children: Carla (Mark) Patterson of Auburn; John (Connie) Kampschmidt of Madera, California; Jeff (Cindy) Kampschmidt of Rolla, Missouri; Scott (Karen) McCauley of Lodi, California; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sister-in-law Flora Fondren of California, and nephew Duane (Jennifer) F ondren of Missouri, and many friends.
