Vanessa Lynn Snyder, daughter of Robert and Linda (Glantz) Helms, was born September 19, 1970 in Omaha, Nebraska. She graduated from high school in Middletown, Maryland.
In 1989 Vanessa was married to John Snyder in Frederick, Maryland. They were blessed with three children: Christopher David, John Robert, and Savanna Harlynn. Vanessa and her family lived in various locations on the East Coast before moving to South Dakota and then Lincoln, Nebraska.
Vanessa served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1988 until 1991, when she could no longer serve due to a disability. She was a Past Honored Queen of Jobs Daughters Bethel 28.
Vanessa had recently moved to Johnson, Nebraska to live with her mother Linda. She was at home in Johnson when she unexpectedly passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at the age of 40 years, 2 months, and 22 days. Her father Robert preceded her in death.
Vanessa is survived by her children Christopher of Lincoln, John of Lincoln, Savanna of Johnson, and their father John Snyder of Lincoln; mother Linda Helms of Johnson; sisters Becki and husband Steve Mousseau of Gretna; Kathy and husband Keith McCurrach of Atlanta, GA; grandmother Marie Helms of Omaha; 3 nieces, other relatives and friends.
Memorial services were Thursday, December 16, 2010 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Johnson, officiated by Pastor Catherine Burroughs. Annette VonBergen was organist, and Susi VonBergen was soloist. Honorary bearers were John Snyder, Steve Mousseau, Larry Waskowiak, and Jim Ingram.
