Sondra Sue (Waddell) Benjamin, one of three children of J.R. and Rosemary (Graham) Waddell, was born January 9, 1951 in Creston, Iowa. She attended school in Creston, graduating from high school in 1969.
On October 6, 1969 Sondra was united in marriage to Eric Benjamin in Nebraska City, Nebraska. They eventually made their home in Auburn and were blessed with a daughter, Stacey.
Sondra worked for many years at the Hinky Dinky Store in Auburn. She began as a bagger, was promoted to checker, and was head cashier when she left the business. She then started a house cleaning business in Auburn and did so well she expanded the business to homes in Lincoln. Sondra retired in 2009, mainly for health reasons.
In October of 2005 Sondra was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Auburn. She remained a member there and enjoyed making salads or desserts for funeral luncheons. Sondra enjoyed traveling with Stacey as her job required and liked to have lunch with friends. She had a huge love for animals and had many pet dogs through the years. The joy of her life, however, was her grandson Aiden. She loved playing with him whenever she had the chance.
As her health deteriorated Sondra was able to stay at her home in Auburn with Rick and Stacey’s help. She passed away at home Sunday, June 2, 2019 at the age of 68 years. 4 months, and 24 days. Her parents and brother-in-law Sonny Conley preceded her in death.
Sondra is survived by her husband Eric “Rick” of Auburn; daughter and son-in-law Stacey and John Hayes of Lincoln; grandson Aiden; sister Peggy Erskine of Creston, IA; brother and sister-in-law Gary and Suzanne Waddell of Henderson, NV; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
