Shelley Jean Bond was born August 18,1946 to Sheldon and Jean Bond in Osceola, NE. She was the oldest of four children. She graduated from Osceola High School and then attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She married David L. Lambert in June 15, 1968 and had two children: Jason and Megan. The couple later divorced.
On July 5, 1986 Shelley married Michael F. Young and they made their home in Auburn for over twenty years. In May of 2008, she was widowed. Shelley met John B. Glen through mutual friends and on April 23, 2011 they were married. In the time they spent together they enjoyed their families and their friends as well as traveling to Hawaii, Arizona, California, and to the Caribbean.
She worked as the Secretary to the Superintendent in the Auburn Public School system for thirty plus years until she retired in 2009. Shelley enjoyed life and the good things that it offered. Some of her favorite pastimes included crafting, golfing, bowling, attending her grandchildren's sporting events, and going to the casino.
She was diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism in April 2012. She later developed kidney disease, which left her needing dialysis.
After a long hospitalization, Shelley passed away with her family by her side at Bryan LGH Medical Center on August 26, 2015.
Survivors include her husband John of Auburn; son and daughter-in-law Jason and Julie Lambert of Nemaha; daughter and son-in-law Megan and Greg Hale of Peoria, AZ; step-children and spouses John and Sarah Glen of Fremont; Polly and Adam Stern of Omaha; Ginny and Abdul Ghafoor of Woodbury, MN; Michelle and Jeff Zelda of Omaha; Caete Young of Oak Park, IL; Jennifer and Mark Nelson of Belvidere, IL; grandchildren John, Josh, and Jocelyn Lambert, Makayla and Hayden Hale; step-grandchildren Derek, Ashton, and Ansleigh Glen, Zach and Samantha Stern, Noreen and Nadia Ghafoor, Max Zelda, Chloe Young, Garrett and Rachel Nelson; sister Kathy Kobza of Vancouver, WA; brothers Randy Bond of Lincoln; Dan and wife Luanne Bond of Clarks, NE; other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be Monday, August 31, 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Auburn. Burial will follow in Sheridan West Cemetery near Auburn. Visitation will be at the funeral home Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends 6:00 to 8:00.
