Sharon Marie (McKnight) Bowen (71) was born May 10, 1949 in Auburn, Nebraska. She was one of three daughters of Lester ‘Mick’ and Maxine (Lare) McKnight. Sharon attended Brock Elementary and High School (class of 1967).
September 6, 1968, Sharon was married to Steve ‘Doc’ Bowen in Brock, Nebraska. Two sons were born to this marriage. Sharon was a homemaker, caregiver, mother to many, and devoted her life to serving the community through the church, Po’s Pantry, the Diamond, Auburn Legion Post 23, Brock Bugle, providing gifts for the Auburn Legion Easter egg hunt, and being a strong supporter of Peru State College.
Sharon died May 24, 2020 surrounded by family after a two-year battle with cancer. God granted her mercy and now she is Home with her grandparents (Fred & Ethel McKnight and Maurice & Nellie Lare), parents (Mick & Maxine McKnight), sister (Connie Smith), and nephew (Doug King). She cherished her last birthday and Mother’s Day at home with family.
Her surviving family includes her husband, Doc, and sons Tim and wife Lisa Bowen and Eric ‘Zeek’ Bowen and grandchildren Brooke, Kailey, and Jayden Bowen. Upon her sister’s death, Sharon and Doc inherited her sister’s surviving children, Michelle and husband Carter Schrage, Colin Cathcart, Sahara Cathcart, and Ana and husband Clayton Damme, and grandchildren, Austin, Adrian, Aris, and Ava Schrage and Romy Damme. A sister (Linda Zook), sister-in-law (Suz Bowen), nephews (Greg King and Mike King), and special aunt (Margaret Kelly) and uncle (Dan Kelly) are also surviving family.
Upon Sharon’s wishes, a private memorial will be held at her family farm.
