Sharon Kay Bollinger, youngest of three children of Curtis and Mildred (Alkire) Conner, was born July 9, 1946, at Auburn, Nebraska. Sharon grew up and attended school in Auburn, graduating with the class of 1964 from Auburn High School.
On June 27, 1964, Sharon was united in marriage to Ronald Bollinger at the Auburn Christian Church. The couple would be blessed with two daughters Bronda and Brenda. They lived for a time in Omaha, Nebraska before making their home in Auburn.
Sharon was always an entrepreneur. She started off helping Ron and his business venture with Bollinger Construction in Auburn, and then by opening what started as trophies, awards, engraving, and signage store, before expanding to Auburn’s first sporting goods store. After selling the sporting goods store, Sharon went in to collecting and selling antiques. She and Ron were well-known, reputable antique dealers in southeast Nebraska, also traveling the country to do various antique shows. Sharon was still active with her antiques up to the very end of her life. Later in life, Sharon also worked part-time in the kitchen for Auburn Public Schools and ran the snack shack at the Auburn Pool.
Sharon was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Auburn and was very active volunteering with Neighbor to Neighbor. She and Ron enjoyed camping, and Sharon loved attending her grandchildren’s various sporting events and school activities, especially basketball and softball games, golf tournaments, and band concerts. She was also an avid Husker football fan.
On Wednesday, September 6, 2023, Sharon passed away at Pawnee County Memorial Hospital in Pawnee City, having reached the age of 77 years, 1 month, and 28 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Mildred Conner, husband Ron Bollinger, and sister and brother-in-law Darlene and Bill Cooney.
Those left to mourn her loss include daughters and sons-in-law Bronda and Randy Carlson of Hermitage, MO, Brenda and Dennis Kirkpatrick of Auburn; grandchildren Grant (Emily) Brueggemann of Auburn, Chance (Elizabeth) Brueggemann of Auburn, Ryan (Danielle) Allgood of Yulee, FL, Jeffrey (Carrie) Allgood of Pittsburg, MO, Dennis Kirkpatrick, Jr. of Auburn, Jamisyn Kirkpatrick of Auburn; great-grandchildren Norah, Austin, Ronan, Hank, Sophia, Faith, Lexa, Kenzie; brother and sister-in-law Curtis and Rosemary Conner of Omaha; other relatives and friends.
There will be a private family graveside service in Bedford Cemetery at Howe. A celebration of life reception will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023, from noon to 2:00 p.m. at the Auburn Country Club.
