Ruth was baptized March 17, 1929, by Pastor Theodore Streng and confirmed April 18, 1943, both at St. Paul Lutheran Hickory Grove Church, near Auburn. Ruth was doubly blessed growing up by having her grandparents living in the home with them. Ruth was educated in a one room school, Prospect School District #28, just a mile from her home. She then went on to graduate from Auburn High School in 1946.
After high school, Ruth worked for two years at Pohlman Motor Company in Auburn as a bookkeeper and secretary for Floyd Pohlman. She also worked at the Nemaha County ASC office in Auburn for a year.

Ruth was a member of St. Paul Lutheran (Hickory Grove) Church her entire life. She loved her Lord and tried to share Him by helping others. She was very involved within the church, she was a charter member of Priscilla Circle, enjoyed teaching Sunday School and attending adult Sunday School classes, and served as a Luther League Sponsor, and also a sponsor for a trip to Oklahoma City for a youth convention. One year the Luther League put on a play called “Calamity Kids” that Ruth played a part in. Ruth also served on the Washington precinct election board for many years. Ruth’s favorite past-times were reading and listening to good music. She enjoyed the peace and quiet of living in the country and spent most of her time as a homemaker and a mother. She very much enjoyed her family, grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.
After a decline in health, Ruth moved to the Good Samaritan Society in Auburn. It was there that she passed away on Friday, May 22, 2020, having reached the age of 91 years, 3 months, and a day. She was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters Edith Bohling, Marie Oestmann, Rosalee DeYoung.
