Roy Thomas Nordbrock, one of two sons of Thomas and Emma (Caspers) Nordbrock, was born August 19, 1929 on the family farm southwest of Auburn, Nebraska. He was baptized at St. John Lutheran (Stone) Church and confirmed at St. James Lutheran (Long Branch) Church. Roy went to country school near his home.
Roy served in the United States Army during the Korean War as an engineer. He was in Korea for 14 months and 14 days, receiving the Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, United Nations Service Medal, and Meritorious Unit Citation.
He worked as a mechanic for Attebery Chevrolet in Union, Nebraska for 14 years and at Rowe Motors in Nebraska City for 20 years before retiring in 1991. Roy was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, American Legion Post #8 and Eagles Aerie #968, all in Nebraska City.
Roy passed away suddenly at his home in Nebraska City on Friday, June 13, 2014 at the age of 84 years, 9 months, and 25 days. His parents and brother Thomas C. Nordbrock preceded him in death.
Roy is survived by his sister-in-law Vivian Nordbrock of Auburn, many cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
