Ronald Lewis Garver, only child of William L. and Marjorie Marie (Ritterling) Garver, was born April 17, 1938 in Auburn, Nebraska. He attended school in Nemaha and Brownville, Nebraska until his family moved to California after his junior year of high school. Ron graduated from Bell High School in Los Angeles and then the family moved back to Nebraska.
On June 11, 1960 Ron was united in marriage to Janet R. Hill in Auburn. They lived in Nemaha County, and would be blessed with two sons, Gary and Jeff. Janet passed away on October 8, 1982.
Ron loved to farm and worked through the years for Clay Kennedy and Randall Smith on their farming operations. He retired in the late 80’s because of health issues. In his spare time, Ron could be found riding around in his pick-up checking out the town or watching the Huskers.
When he was no longer able to live alone in his home, Ron moved to the Good Samaritan Society-Auburn in January of 2013. He enjoyed visiting with other residents and visitors while he lived there. It was at Good Sam, on Saturday, October 20, 2018 that he passed away while watching the Huskers on television.
His parents and wife Janet preceded him in death.
Ron is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law Jeff and Kristy Garver of Auburn; Gary and Kathy Garver of Auburn; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and friends.
A graveside funeral and committal service will be Tuesday, October 23, 2:00 p.m. at Walnut Grove Cemetery at Brownville.
