Roger William Corbin, son of Roy and Amy Corbin and biological mother Pearl Corbin, was born May 4, 1938 in Milford, Nebraska. He grew up and attended school in Nemaha, Nebraska, graduating from Nemaha High School in 1957. Roger was baptized by Rev. M. Wayne Picherel at the Methodist Church in Nemaha on March 28, 1948 and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Auburn by Rev. Eugene Schooler on June 2, 1963.
On November 30, 1963 Roger was united in marriage to Myrna Kuhlmann at Trinity Lutheran Church, by Rev. Eugene Schooler. They would be blessed with two children, Tina Marie and Christopher Alan. Roger and Myrna made their home in Auburn.
After high school, Roger worked on the Norman Kennedy and Elmer Steffens farms in Nemaha County. Next, in Omaha, he built lawnmowers at General Appliance Manufacturing and then at J.B. Thorndike as a used car lot attendant. In 1963 he started at Nutone-WoodCarv as a guard/janitor, later moving to other positions at the factory. After 38 years of service, Roger retired from the plant under its new name, Armstrong Flooring.
As a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Roger enjoyed being active in the Lutheran Laymen’s League. He worked latchhook in his spare time, and in his younger years liked to camp with family and work on his cars. He also served as a volunteer civilian observer for the U. S. Air Force during the Cold War.
Roger passed away at his home in Auburn on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at the age of 75 years, 4 months, and 17 days. His parents preceded him in death.
Those left to celebrate his life include his wife Myrna of Auburn; daughter and son-in-law Tina and Levisit Scott of Omaha; son and daughter-in-law Christopher and Bonnie Corbin of Port Orchard, WA; grandchildren Shawntel, Terrelle, LaShell, Ryan, Kaitlyn, and Austin; great-grandchildren Nevaeh, James, Aurianna, Jaymira, Jermario, Terrelle, and Detric; mother-in-law Ida Kuhlmann of Tecumseh; sister Maxine Moren and her husband Joe of Longmont, CO; brother Lawrence Corbin of Idaho; half-sister Donna Root and her husband Ed; sister-in-law Marlene Dietrich and her husband Wayne of Auburn; brother-in-law Merle Kuhlmann and his wife Lora of Beatrice; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 24, 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Auburn. Burial will be at Trinity Cemetery near Johnson. Visitation will be at the funeral home Monday 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends 6:00 to 7:30.
