ROBERT L. CLARKE, age 75, of Saint Clair Shores, Michigan, died on May 31, 2016, surrounded by his family, after they sang “Amazing Grace” to him and read Revelation 4:8: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come.” Robert was born in Auburn, Nebraska, and graduated from the University of Nebraska, where he met his wife, Wilma. They were married nearly 52 years. His first job out of college was an as engineer with Ford Motor Company, where he worked for 34 years until retirement. Since retirement, he has been active in his church as a deacon and coordinator of the new members’ class, and has continued his fierce and loving dedication to family by travelling all over the country to visit them. An avid athlete, he has won multiple medals in the Michigan Senior Olympics, and several over 70 first place medals in the Grosse Pointe 5K run and the 5K Arlington Turkey Trot. Surviving Robert are his wife, Wilma; his sons Stephen (Tacye) and Jonathan (Beth); his grandchildren Will, Ella, Allyson, Sophie, Brendan, Susannah, Geneva, Benjamin, Josiah, and Jameson; and his siblings Ruthann (Boyd), Carol (Jim), and Eston (Ann). Committal service and interment will be Wednesday, June 8 at 11 am at Sheridan Cemetery in Auburn, Nebraska. Donations in Robert’s honor may be made to Cornerstone Baptist Church or to the Carcinoid Cancer Foundation.
