Robert Gene Hoover, son of James Leland and Bernita Caroline (Goos) Hoover, was born December 3, 1948, in Nebraska City, Nebraska. Bob grew up and attended school in Auburn, Nebraska.
On August 1, 1986, Bob was united in marriage to Cindy Peters at Fairfax, Missouri. The couple would be blessed with two children, Chad and Dana.
At a young age, Bob began working with his grandma Ruby Hoover at a nursing home in Auburn. He also worked at Auburn Consolidated Industries for a number of years and was the Deputy Director of Nemaha County Emergency Management but spent the majority of his career as an over the road truck driver. After his time spent on the road driving truck was through, Bob continued driving truck and working for local farmers.
In his spare time, Bob enjoyed hunting. He also had a love for camping, so much that he became the campground host at Waubonsie State Park in Iowa for a number of years.
On Tuesday, August 8, 2023, Bob passed away surrounded by family at his home in Auburn, having reached the age of 74 years, 8 months, and 5 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Hoover and Bea Heidzig.
Those left to mourn his passing include his wife Cindy of Auburn; son and daughter-in-law Chad and Angie Hoover of Auburn; daughter Dana Hoover and significant other Nate Lueders of Lincoln; grandchildren Dylan, Kole, Mackenzi, Breslynn, and Avery; brother Richard Hoover of Lincoln; other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 19, at the Eagles Club in Auburn, beginning at 4:00 p.m. Burial of ashes will take place at a later date.
