Raymond James Hutton, one of 9 children of Bert Franklin and Jeanne Marie (Migot) Hutton, was born November 5, 1920 at Glenrock, Nebraska. He was baptized December 12, 1920 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Auburn by Rev. A.O. Frank. Raymond attended Champion School near his home through the eighth grade.
On December 21, 1947 Raymond was united in marriage to Gaynell Wright at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Auburn. They made their home southeast of Auburn and were blessed with two children, Guy and Raynell.
Raymond was a farmer all of his life, and he loved taking care of the land and tending to his livestock. As a 4-H Leader and member of the Nemaha County Extension Board, he helped to instill a love of farming in his children and grandchildren.
Gaynell passed away on April 28, 1982. On July 7, 1984 Raymond married Leona F. (Stutheit) Schlange at St. Paul Lutheran. He welcomed her children and grandchildren into his family.
As a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Raymond joined in church activities, and served on the Cemetery Board for many years. He had also been a member of the Auburn Eagles Aerie #3767. In his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting when time allowed. Family was always first with Raymond, and he loved spending time with children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and of course his dog Maggie.
Leona passed away on February 28, 2008. When he was no longer able to live at home, Raymond resided at Good Samaritan Society-Auburn and then Colonial Acres in Humboldt, Nebraska.
After being admitted to the Nebraska Heart Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska, Raymond passed away there on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at the age of 93 years, 5 months, and 25 days. In addition to his parents and his wives, Raymond was preceded in death by his 8 brothers and sisters, son-in-law Arnold Able, step-son Wayne Schlange, and step-son-in-law Jack Betts.
Raymond is survived by his children Guy and wife Karen Hutton of Nemaha; Raynell Able of Auburn; step-children Rosalie Betts of Auburn; Mary and husband Larry Boswell of Azle, TX; Kenneth Schlange and friend Pam Conn of Auburn; step-daughter-in-law Elaine Schlange of Auburn; grandchildren Vance and wife Crystal Hutton; Jake and wife Rachel Hutton; Bryce Hutton; Jill and husband Jeremy Allen; Jody Able; step-grandchildren Kristin and husband Kevin Stuart; Kurt and wife Maria Schlange; Teresa Long; Zeb and wife Karen Simones; John and wife Pam Boswell; Rachelle Luttig; Elizabeth Schlange; Matt and wife Jody Kerchal; great-grandchildren Blake and Kylie Allen; Emily and Hunter Hutton; Whitley Hutton; 12 step-great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be Monday, May 5, 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Auburn. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Sunday noon to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends 6:00 to 8:00.
