Paul William Sciarappa, one of three children of Nicholas R. and Audrey (Stilphen) Sciarappa, was born March 27, 1947 in Boston, Massachusetts. He received his formal education in Boston, graduating from Brighton High School in 1965.
In 1966 Paul joined the United States Air Force, serving as a mechanic and then as a Training Systems Technician. Paul served in numerous campaigns and places during the Vietnam War, including U Tapao, Thailand; Hue Phu-Bat, Vietnam; 314th FMS CCK, Taiwan; and Tansan Nhut and Cam Ranh Bay in Saigon.
After the war he remained with the Air Force until his retirement and honorable discharge from Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, Nebraska in 1991.
Paul lived in Plattsmouth, Nebraska and worked for the Sinclair gas station chain, working as a mechanic and managing stations in the Omaha metro area.
On December 9, 1994 Paul was united in marriage to Vickie (Horn) Hendrickson in Plattsmouth. Paul?s three children and Vickie?s four children blended into one family. The couple and younger children eventually made their home near Auburn, Nebraska.
Paul was a member of the Vietnam Vets Motorcycle Club. He started his hangaround in April 1992, became a prospect the next month, and received his patch in November of 1993. Paul later served as President of the club. He had been a member of the Nebraska City Legion Club, enjoyed fishing, and volunteered his time as a foster parent and mentor to young children.
Suffering from a terminal illness, Paul?s wish was to stay at his home. He was able to do that with the care of his wife Vickie and others. He passed away at his home, with his family around him, on Thursday, November 25, 2010 at the age of 63 years, 7 months, and 28 days. His parents preceded him in death.
Paul is survived by his wife Vickie of Auburn; children Paul, Jr. and wife Tiffany of Norfolk, NE; Michael and wife Brenda of Port Orange, FL; Maria and husband Perry Addleman of LaVista, NE; Linus and girlfriend Kacie of Auburn; Nicole of Auburn; Joshua of Auburn; and Matthew of Auburn; 9 grandchildren; sister Vickie and husband Bill Stevens of Quartzsite, AZ; brother Jeff and wife Pam of Boston, MA; other relatives and many friends.
