Norma Jean Loew, one of two daughters of Orval and Hazel (Huffmon) Bales, was born January 23, 1933, on the family farm in Carroll County, Missouri. Norma grew up and attended school in Carroll County, graduating from Hale High School in Hale, Missouri. After high school, Norma attended Kansas State University where she graduated in 1955 with a degree in Home Economics.
On October 29, 1954, Norma was united in marriage to Leroy Loew at Hale, Missouri. This union would be blessed with two children: a daughter, Lisa, and a son, Gary.
Norma and Leroy moved to Auburn, Nebraska in 1966. Norma was hired by Auburn Public Schools as a Home Economics teacher, where she taught at Auburn High School from 1967-1977.
Norma was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Auburn where she enjoyed being a part of women’s groups at the church for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing bridge and reading.
In November of 2020, Norma became a resident of Good Samaritan Society in Auburn. It is there that she passed away on Monday, February 7, 2022, having reached the age of 89 years, and 15 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leroy, daughter Lisa, and sister Carolyn.
Survivors include her son Gary Loew of Kansas City, MO; three grandchildren, Megan and husband Eric Stoecker, Katie Jackson, Garrett and wife Mallory Loew; five great-grandchildren, Graham Harvey Stoecker, Samantha Marie Stoecker, Jude Christopher Loew, Della Christine Jackson, Hensley Grace Loew; other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be Saturday, February 12, 2022, 2:00 p.m.at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn. Family will greet friends one hour prior to service. Burial will follow in Sheridan Cemetery at Auburn. Visitation is Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
