Nancy Lu Clarke

Nancy Lu Clarke, one of six children of Dale and Nettie (Anderson) Epler, was born October 11, 1948, in Auburn, Nebraska. Nancy grew up and attended school in Julian, Nebraska. She graduated from Brock High School with the class of 1967.

On February 4, 1967, Nancy was united in marriage to Roger Clarke at the Brock Christian Church. The couple made their home in rural Nemaha County, and would be blessed with two sons, Tim and John.

Nancy began working for the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier for the Post Office in Auburn. She became the Postmaster for the Brock Post Office, a position she held until its closing. She then filled in as Postmaster at both Hallam and Avoca before becoming the Postmaster at Brownville until her retirement in 2008. Nancy served the US Postal Service for 25+ years.

Nancy was a longtime member of the Brock Christian Church, after its closing she attended the Auburn Christian Church and Capitol City Christian Church in Lincoln. Nancy was also a member of the Red Hat Society. She loved cooking and sharing meals, reading and writing poetry, and Jeopardy.  But most of all, Nancy loved her family. Spending time with family was very important to Nancy, from following sports and activities of all her family, to taking family vacations. She especially enjoyed spoiling and spending time with her grandkids.

After Roger’s passing in 2007, Nancy remained at home until her retirement in 2008, when she moved to Lincoln with John and Lisa. Nancy made her home in Nebraska City for several years before moving to the Ambassador Health Center in Nebraska City. It is there that Nancy passed on Saturday, January 11, 2025, having reached the age of 76 years and 3 months. Besides her parents and husband Roger, Nancy was preceded in death by her son John; brother John Epler; sister-in-law Marietta Epler, and brother-in-law Jerry LaVigne.

Those left to mourn her passing include her son Roger Timothy Clarke of Brock and his son Jacob; daughter-in-law Lisa Clarke of Lincoln and her children Chayse, Hope, and Colton; siblings Bette LaVigne, Dale Epler, Joe (Linda) Epler, Carol (Sid) Bruggeman; sisters-in-law Mary Lilly Epler, Marilyn (Ben) Wade; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
