   Milo Calvin Leslie was born January 19, 1928, in Glenrock, Nebraska to Milo Loren and Lillian (Curtis) Leslie.  Milo went to school in Brock, Nebraska, where he graduated from high school, and had qualified for the state championships in track.

   On January 17, 1950, Milo was united in marriage to Betty Lee Scott in Lincoln, Nebraska.  Making a home in Auburn, Nebraska, the couple was blessed with six children:  Betty, Steve, Deborah, Jack, Tammy, and Mark.

   Milo made a career with the Board of Public Works in Auburn.  He started there as a lineman, and through the years worked his way up through the organization.  He served as Superintendent of Electrical, Water, and Sewer, retiring after 58 years with the Board as Superintendent of the Electrical division.

   A member of the Auburn Christian Church, American Legion Post #23, and the Auburn Eagles Aerie #3767, Milo had other interests as well.  He dedicated his life not only to BPW, but also to his garden, growing loads of vegetables and sharing the harvest with many.  Milo enjoyed hunting and fishing and had taken all his kids along with him for the experience.  Throughout his life family was very important to him.

   After Betty’s passing in 2020, Milo continued to live in their home and tend to his garden as long as he could.  In October of 2022 he moved to the Good Samaritan Society-Auburn.   It was there he passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, having reached the age of 95 years, 10 months, and 2 days.  In addition to Betty and his parents, Milo was preceded by his sons Steve and Jack, daughters Deborah Soldano and Betty “Sis” Castillo, brother Jack, and sister Dorothy Barnett.

   Milo is remembered lovingly by his daughter and son-in-law Tammy and Steve Moody of Auburn; son and daughter-in-law Mark and Paula Leslie of Auburn; grandchildren Maria (John) Morris, Regina Castillo, Josephine Castillo, Raymond Castillo, Burl (Jessie) Henrichs, Miranda (Dustin) Mammen, Grant (Brooke) Leslie, Carson Leslie, Cheryl (Jeremy) Doty, Michelle (Matt) Snyder, Jessica Leslie, Jake Leslie (girlfriend Hilary Faulder), Milo Leslie; numerous great grandchildren; sister-in-law Ruth Leslie of Auburn; many other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be Friday, November 24, 2:00 p.m. at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn.  Burial will follow in the Glenrock Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday noon to 2:00 p.m., with family greeting friends 1:00 to 2:00.

Memorials are suggested to Glenrock Cemetery or Auburn Volunteer Fire Department.
