Merle Umland, age 89 of Auburn, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at the Nemaha County Hospital in Auburn. He was born February 6, 1919 in Nebraska City, and was an army veteran of WWII.
Survivors include his wife June of Auburn; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday, March 29, 11:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Auburn. Burial will be in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery at Peru, with graveside military honors by American Legion Post #23 and VFW Post #2635 of Auburn, and VFW Post #7299 of Peru. Visitation will be at the funeral home Friday 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with Rosary recited at 7:00.
Memorials suggested in lieu of flowers.
