Megan, a member of St. Clara’s Catholic Church, Peru, Nebraska, spent much of her life praying and thinking of others. Her emotional and spiritual strength were unwavering. She was a person of faith, and that warrior spirit afforded her 14 additional years after her diagnosis of brain and spine cancer at the tender age of 8 when the best outcome was a 20% chance to see 5 years of additional life. Megan’s proudest accomplishments was graduation from Auburn High School 2017 and attending Camp CoHoLo (Courage, Hope and Love for children with cancer.) Megan loved caring for all animals that showed up on her doorstep, including possums, roosters, raccoons, assorted song birds, and many cats and dogs. She enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbors, being outside and going on adventures with her dad.
The McConnaughey Family offers their sincere appreciation to everyone who offered care and compassion to Megan during her 14 year battle. We are eternally grateful to the doctors, nurses, family, neighbors, and dear friends for their continue support.
Megan is proceeded in death by grandfather, T. Rex McConnaughey.
