Mary Catherine Frenzel was born December 20, 1945, with her twin brother Gary, to Ralph and Eoma (Hammontree) Frenzel in Auburn, Nebraska. She was baptized in the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Howe, Nebraska and attended Rosedale School near her home through the eighth grade. Mary then attended Auburn Public Schools where she graduated from high school in 1964.
On June 24, 1967, Mary was united in marriage to Harlan Eugene Glathar in the Stella Community Church in Stella, Nebraska. To this union three children were born: Laura, Carla, and Ryan.
After her graduation from high school Mary was employed at the Farm Service Agency (ASCS) until her retirement in April of 2022.
She was a member of the Stella Community Church and sang in the choir there for many years.
Mary enjoyed working alongside Harlan on the farm and gardening. Her favorite pastime, however, was attending her children’s and grandchildren’s activities.
After experiencing some health issues, Mary was admitted to the Nemaha County Hospital in Auburn on the night of June 6, 2023. It was there she passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at the age of 77 years, 5 months, and 18 days. Her parents, husband Harlan, and brother Tom preceded her in death.
Mary will be missed by many, especially her children Laura and husband Jay Nutter of Panama, Carla and husband Thomas Farrell of Plant City, FL, Ryan Glathar and fiancé Taryn Merideth of Paducah, KY; grandchildren Bailey Thomas and husband Dakota, Owen and Sierran Nutter, Tyler and Riley Farrell, Kirsten Olson and Ryker Glathar; great-grandchild Daisy Thomas; brother and sister-in-law Gary and Tina Frenzel of Shubert; sister and brother-in-law Joan and Jon Allen of Effingham, KS; sister-in-law Pat Frenzel of Stella; and other relatives.
A memorial service will be Wednesday, June 14, 2:00 p.m. at the Stella Community Church in Stella. Visitation will be at the funeral home in Auburn Tuesday 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends 6:00 to 8:00. Burial of ashes will be later in Bedford Cemetery at Howe.
Memorials, in lieu of flowers, are suggested to Bedford Cemetery or Stella Community Church.
