Mildred Lucille (Adams) Kimball, one of two daughters of Ralph and Mildred (Morris) Adams, was born October 30, 1938 in Peru, Nebraska. She attended Indian Hill School, graduated from Peru Prep, and went on to attend Peru Teachers College. Lucille, the name she was known by, was baptized in the Peru Christian Church.
On February 14, 1959 Lucille was united in marriage to Carl Clinton Kimball, Jr. at the Peru Christian Church. They made their home in Auburn, Nebraska, and were blessed with three children: Dennis, Leisha, and Mitch.
Lucille was first employed at Carson National Bank in Auburn, and then worked at Pendleton Woolen Mills in Nebraska City. She then was a clinic coordinator at Family Planning Services. Lucille next served in the dietary department of the Good Samaritan Society-Auburn and retired as a food service worker after 10 years at the Tecumseh Care Center.
Lucille had transferred her church membership to the Auburn Christian Church, and was active in church activities. She had served in several officer positions, including president, with the Auburn Eagles Auxiliary. She loved spending time on her computer in her later years. She enjoyed travelling to Branson, Missouri and camping in her younger years. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family, playing with the grandkids and great-grandchildren.
On Saturday, November 17, 2012, Lucille was rushed to the Nemaha County Hospital in Auburn. With family around her, she passed away there at the age of 74 years and 18 days. Her parents, husband Carl, and brothers-in-law Gary Whitehead and Dick Kimball preceded her in death.
Lucille is survived by her children Dennis Kimball of Auburn; Leisha and husband Bruce Yott of Auburn; Mitch and wife Tina Kimball of Auburn; grandchildren Issiaih Yott and Kayla, Kyle, and Kolten Kimball; step-grandchildren Ashley Yott and Tabitha Runge; great-grandchild Karlei Booth; 6 step-great-grandchildren; sister Sharron Whitehead of Auburn; sister-in-law Judy Kimball of Auburn; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 20, 10:30 a.m. at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery at Peru. Visitation will be at the funeral home Monday 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends 6:00 to 8:00.
