Loren LaVigne Goings, one of six children of Floyd and Rose (LaVigne) Goings, was born November 26, 1927 on a farm near Humboldt, Nebraska. The family moved to a farm east of Auburn, Nebraska where he attended Harmon rural school. In 1945 Loren?s family moved to a farm north of Auburn, where Loren lived most of his adult life. In 2006 he moved into Auburn where he lived until his death.
From 1952 through 1958 Loren worked for Western Union and Union Pacific Railroad in Utah, Idaho, Kansas, and Colorado. He moved back to Auburn in 1958 to farm with his brother Glade. He continued working for Glade until his death.
Loren loved driving his Ford cars. His first car, a 1940 maroon Mercury ?4-door?, was shared with his brother Glade. He obtained his driver?s license in Auburn at the age of 20.
Loren never seemed to miss a family reunion, holiday, or related event. He attended every LaVigne family reunion since 1938, and hosted many family get-togethers at the farm north of Auburn, with many nieces and nephews in attendance.
He was a ?Big Red? football fan, and always watched or listened to the games. Loren relished going to dinner at the Auburn Senior Center, and made himself available to help with care and clean-up of the facility.
Loren entered the Good Samaritan Society-Auburn in June of 2012, and it was there he passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2012. He had attained the age of 84 years, 7 months, and 21 days. He was preceded in death by his father Floyd in 1974, his mother Rose in 1988, brother Gale in 1996, sister Marjorie Johnson in 1951, brother Dean in 2012, sisters-in-law Donna Goings and Jean Goings, great-nephew Craig Marsh, and great-great-niece Kristi Kay Daffer.
Loren is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law Glade and LaVerne Goings of Auburn; Harley and Frances Goings of Tecumseh; sister-in-law Nita Goings of Seward; many nieces, nephews and friends.
He will be greatly missed by all.
