Linda Lee Stiers, one of three children of Kenneth and Doris (Duerfeldt) Stiers, was born June 24, 1940, at Rulo, Nebraska. When she was just a young girl, Linda and her family moved to Nemaha, Nebraska.
On July 7, 1956, Linda was united in marriage to Claude “Buck” Jones at Nemaha. To this union, four children were born: Deana, Ben, Jeff, and Kenny. Linda worked hard running the household and raising the kids, she was a mom, through and through.
In her spare time, Linda enjoyed sewing and quilting. She was an avid reader, often reading an entire book in just one day. Linda and Buck also loved taking care of the neighborhood cats, cleaning them up, feeding them, and giving them a home.
After a decline in health, Linda moved to the Good Samaritan Society-Auburn. It is there that she passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, just 11 days after her 82nd birthday. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Buck, brother Lawrence Stiers, and sister Elizabeth Finn.
Those left to mourn her passing include her daughter Deana Voit of Auburn; sons and daughters-in-law Ben and Derinda of Auburn, Jeff and Diane of Omaha, Kenny and Sarah of Unadilla; 19 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brother- and sisters-in-law Corky and Peg Jones of Brownville, Veneta Nincehelser of Brownville; other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 12, 2022, 11:00 a.m. at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery at Brownville. Visitation will be on Monday at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 6:00 to 8:00.
