Linda K. (Hillers) Bailey

   Linda K. Hillers was born July 6th, 1953, in Auburn, Nebraska, one of six children born to Henry J. and Hazel (Gerdes) Hillers.  She lived on a farm six miles south of Auburn and attended rural Center School and a short time at Howe School.  After the family moved to Auburn Linda attended Calvert Elementary and graduated from Auburn High School in 1971.

   After graduation she moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, and married Pete Hansen later that year.  To this union one son, John, was born.  The couple later divorced, and Linda married Michael Bailey in 1982.  After several years in Lincoln, they bought an acreage near Martell, Nebraska and lived there until moving to Auburn.

   Linda had many jobs throughout her life, including as a para-professional at Arnold Elementary in Lincoln.  She served as deli manager in many grocery stores in Lincoln and worked at the Kava House Restaurant in Crete and the Hampton Inn in Lincoln.

   Linda loved spending time with all of her brothers and sister and their families.  She loved all the adventures she and Glenda had with the family.

   As her health failed in the last 6 months, Linda eventually was admitted to St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lincoln.  It was there she passed away on Monday, August 21, 2023, at the age of 70 years, 1 month, and 15 days.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Harlan, Calvin, Ronald, and David Hillers.

   Those left to mourn include her husband Michael Bailey of Auburn; son John (Angela) Hansen of Albuquerque, NM; stepchildren Michael A. Johnson of Lincoln, Michelle (Jeff) Melvin of Lincoln; granddaughter Shea Hansen; step-grandchildren Bayla and Saylor Johnson, Caleb, Tristan, and Brock Melvin; step-great-granddaughter Hendrix Melvin; twin-sister Glenda (Rich) Burow of Auburn; other relatives and friends. 

A memorial service will be held Friday, September 1, 2023, 10:30 a.m. at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, August 31, 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 5:00 to 7:00.  Burial of ashes will take place at a later date in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery at Auburn.
