Leon Leroy Mayall was born September 10, 1955 in Omaha, Nebraska. One of five children of Tex Leroy and Theresa (Miedl) Mayall, he moved to California as a child with his family. Leon attended school in Bakersfield, California, where he spent most of his life.
During the time he was married, Leon was blessed with three children: Leon, Jr., Jerry, and Nianda. He later was divorced from his wife.
While in Bakersfield, Leon worked as a detailer in a car wash. He was well known to his customers, and even wore costumes for many of their birthdays. Leon moved to Nebraska in about 1995, and worked as a heavy equipment operator for Anderson Excavating in Omaha.
A resident of Auburn, Nebraska for many years, Leon was baptized in the Brock Christian Church in Brock, Nebraska. He was a Husker fan, loved fishing, and kind of liked his drinking too.
After being hospitalized in February of 2016, Leon moved to his sister Patty’s home in Auburn. There he was cared for by his sister, other family, and hospice until his passing on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at the age of 60 years, 5 months, and 25 days. His son Jerry preceded him in death.
Leon is survived by his son Leon Mayall, Jr. of Bakersfield, CA; daughter Nianda Mayall of Bakersfield, CA; 12 grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law Patricia and Jessie Martin of Auburn; Nancy Mayall of Nebraska City; Linda (Gary) Smith of Missouri Valley, IA; brothers Larry Mayall of Ohio; Larry Edwards of Lincoln; very best friend Jerry “Tater” Mason of Auburn; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be Saturday, March 12, 12:00 p.m. at the Brock Christian Church in Brock. No visitation is planned.
