Larry Dean Adams, son of Clyde Dean and Vera ?Toots? (Osborne) Adams, was born June 29, 1947 in Auburn, Nebraska. He grew up in and attended school in Peru, Nebraska.
After high school, Larry entered the United States Army and served in Vietnam during the war there. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and Sharpshooter Badge. After his honorable discharge he returned to the Peru area.
Larry worked as a surveyor during the construction of Cooper Nuclear Station at Brownville, Nebraska. He also operated heavy machinery for a number of years. For the last 30 years he drove trucks for various companies, most recently Fairview Truck Lines. Larry was a member of Peru VFW Post #7299 and enjoyed hunting in his spare time. Throughout his life, Larry was always helping and caring for others.
Larry lost his life as a result of a motor vehicle accident near Purcell, Oklahoma on the night of February 14, 2012. He had reached the age of 64 years, 7 months, and 16 days. His parents and grandparents preceded him in death.
Those left to mourn his passing include his children Kris and husband Bob Vogt of Wilber; Pete and wife Amanda Adams of Tooele, UT; grandchildren Zack and Jenna Vogt; Dylan, Dakota, and Dusty Adams; sister Shirley and husband Dave Kraus of Denton; brother Jerry Adams of Auburn; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be Monday, February 20, 10:30 a.m. at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery at Peru, with graveside military honors by Peru VFW Post #7299 and Nebraska National Guard Honors Team. Visitation will be at the funeral home Sunday noon to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends 3:00 to 5:00.
Memorials in lieu of flowers suggested to family choice. Family suggests casual dress.
