Ken David Wolken was born Sept. 3, 1959 in Tecumseh, Nebraska son of Robert and Jean (Brunsdon) Wolken. He attended ECHO school in Tecumseh founded and taught by his mother. When he was 18 years old he moved to Auburn to live in a group home for young men with similar disabilities and work at the Region V workshop run by the State of Nebraska, now operated by SENDS. He worked at the shop until 2014 when his health started to decline.
Despite the hardships of life Ken had a good spirit and liked to joke with people and make them laugh. Ken passed away Sunday evening Feb. 1, 2015 at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Sherea Wolken Keedy He is survived by brother James of Albuquerque, sister Jan and brother-in-law Rick Staley of Lincoln and brother Don & wife Norvie Wolken of Lincoln, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, many cousins, and his SENDS family and friends in Auburn. Also a special thanks to the good people of Auburn for accepting Ken in your community and who took the time to say "hello" to Ken as he moved about town.
