John Dale Roberts, one of five children of Clemont and Margaret (Cook) Roberts, was born March 25, 1960, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He attended North County school in Desloge, Missouri and graduated from high school in Park Hills, Missouri.
John entered the United States Army on February 5, 1980. He served with the 16th Infantry Battalion as a mechanic and received his honorable discharge on January 26, 1983.
In 1997 John married Shannon Fouraker in Falls City, Nebraska. Their union was blessed with a son, Justin. The couple later divorced but remained good friends for life.
As an employee of Union Pacific Railroad for many years, he retired from the training department of the railroad.
John was a member of the Falls City American Legion Post #102. He loved to tinker and had many projects going at any particular time. John enjoyed making people laugh and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. John also had a special place in his heart for his Siberian Husky Kodi.
Currently living in Nemaha, Nebraska, John collapsed in his yard on Saturday, June 22, 2024. He was transported to Nemaha County Hospital in Auburn where he passed away that same day. John was preceded in death by his parents, brother Bert, and good friend Brigid Hickey.
John is survived by his son Justin of Nemaha, stepson Jacob Gentry of Kansas City, MO, siblings Ramona Bollinger of Park Hills, MO, Bill (Linda) Roberts of Michigan, Ann (Robbie) Kindle of Bismarck, MO, former wife Shannon Roberts of Denver, MO, 6 nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be Friday, June 28, 2:00 p.m. at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn. Visitation will be at the funeral home Thursday 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with family greeting friends 5:00 to 7:00. John’s body will be cremated following the service.
