John Ballard Glen, Jr., only son of John B. and Donna M. (McPherren) Glen, was born October 6, 1941 in Auburn, Nebraska. John grew up in Auburn and graduated from Auburn High School. He attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln School of Pharmacy and graduated with his Pharmacy Doctorate.
On December 30, 1962 John was united in marriage to Lynda Kay Teten at Trinity Lutheran Church in Nebraska City, Nebraska. Making their home in Auburn, they were blessed with four children: Melanie, Ginny, Polly, and John.
John was a third-generation owner-operator of Glen’s Drug in Auburn. He worked in the business for 40 years before selling it and retiring.
Lynda passed away on October 11, 2008 and John continued to live in Auburn. On April 23, 2011 John married Shelley J. (Bond) Young in Auburn. Shelley passed on August 26, 2015.
John was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Auburn. He was a avid golfer and belonged to the Auburn Country Club for many years. He was also a member of the Auburn American Legion Post #23. John enjoyed following Auburn athletics, especially football.
As John’s health began to fail, he moved to Ambassador Health in Omaha, Nebraska. It was there he passed away on Monday, October 5, 2020 just one day short of his 79th birthday. He was preceded in death by his parents and his spouses.
John is survived by his children and their spouses Melanie McBride of Raleigh, NC; Polly and Adam Stern of Omaha; Ginnie and Abdul Ghafoor of Woodbury, MN; John and Sarah Glen III of Fremont; grandchildren George and Genevieve Nincehelser, Noreen and Nadia Ghafoor, Zach and Samantha Stern, Derek, Ashton and Annsleigh Glen; sisters and their spouses Dee and Jery Phillip of Omaha; Mary Lee and Chris Ehrke of Lincoln; other relatives and many friends.
A private family graveside service, with Rev. Ken Miller officiating, was Friday, October 9, 2020 at Sheridan West Cemetery near Auburn. Burial followed.
