JoAnn (Shiveley) Pasco Grafton, one of three children of Ward Jennings and Mary Rebecca (Prather) Shiveley, was born October 5, 1927 at Nemaha, Nebraska. She received her early education at Nemaha, and graduated from Auburn High School.
On May 23, 1946 JoAnn was married to James Pasco in Hiawatha, Kansas. They made their home near Peru, Nebraska. Three children: Linda, Jerry, and Dick, were born to their union. JoAnn devoted herself to raising her children and taking care of the household.
James passed away in 1973, and JoAnn married Guy Grafton on March 9, 1978. They lived on a farm near Peru and enjoyed their blended family. Guy passed in 2003, and JoAnn moved to Auburn to live out her life.
JoAnn was a current member of First United Methodist Church in Auburn, where she belonged to the Prayer and Share Group. She had previously been a member of Bethel Community Church and the Peru Community Church. She was a member of Rebekah Lodge, Order of Eastern Star, and the Peru Tuesday Literary Club. She spent much of her time reading, and had belonged to various card groups throughout her life.
On July 4, 2014 JoAnn was admitted to St. Elizabeth Regional Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska. It was there she passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at the age of 86 years, 9 months, and 4 days. In addition to her parents and two husbands, she was preceded in death by her two brothers and son Dick.
JoAnn is survived by her daughter Linda Ellison of Auburn; son and daughter-in-law Jerry and Linda Pasco of Auburn; daughter-in-law Linda K. Pasco of Auburn; step-daughter Sara and husband Todd Pruitt of Peru; grandchildren and spouses Patricia Ellison, Paula and Dr. Ryan Gill, Sandy Pasco, Tim and Vanessa Pasco, Jenny Pasco, Heather and Elgin Chancellor, Jamie Pasco and fiancé Eric Peterson, Guyla Pasco and husband Bill Sutton; 12 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; nephews and spouses Melvin and Shirley Shiveley of Trinchera, CO; Mike Shiveley of Southwick, MA; Pat and Annie Shiveley of Southwick, MA; other relatives and friends.
