Jennifer Kay Baker, one of six children of Clifford and Aunt Bea Peterson, was born October 21, 1951, in Omaha, Nebraska. She grew up and attended school in Omaha, graduating from Omaha North High.
On April 21, 1969, Jennifer was united in marriage to Donald L. Baker, Sr. The couple would be blessed with four children: Donald L., Jr., Mark, Kristine, and Amy. The couple made their home all over the country, moving to California, Iowa, Arizona, and back to Nebraska, before finally settling in Auburn.
Jennifer was a health care worker throughout all their moves. Even providing health care to Alice Cooper’s mother while living in Arizona. In Auburn, Jennifer worked at the Nemaha County Hospital, working as the unit coordinator for many years before retiring.
In her spare time, Jennifer loved to read. Family always held a special place in her heart, she loved spending time visiting with family. Jennifer also enjoyed attending her grandkids’ activities.
On Sunday, February 2, 2020, Jennifer was rushed to the Nemaha County Hospital in Auburn, where she passed away unexpectedly having reached the age of 68 years, 3 months, and 12 days. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Jennifer is survived by her husband Donald L. Baker, Sr. of Auburn, sons Donald L., Jr. of Auburn, Mark of Auburn; daughters and sons-in-law Kristine Baker-Armstrong and Adam of Brownville, Amy and Tim Alberts of Auburn; 8 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers Carolyn (John) Flynn, Clifford “Skip” Peterson, Christine (Bill) Hendricks, Darrel (Pat) Peterson, Laurel “Kiki” Minturn; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life will be held Friday, February 7, 2020, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn.
