Jean M. Reeves

Jean Marie (Maddox) Reeves, one of eleven children of Floyd and Mildred Maddox, was born on November 28, 1951, in Auburn, Nebraska.  Jean spent her childhood growing up in Nemaha, Nebraska.  She attended Nemaha Public School until 8th grade and then went to Southeast Nebraska Consolidated School in Stella, Nebraska.

Jean attended the Nemaha United Methodist Church and was baptized and became a member of the church at the age of thirteen.

She met the love of her life, Terry Reeves, at the Old Settlers Picnic.  They fell in love and were married on August 6, 1969, in Nemaha.  They moved to Peru, Nebraska in 1975 and spent the rest of their life there.

Terry and Jean were blessed with two children.  Brenda, who passed away on March 14, 1996.  At the passing of Brenda, they raised her two daughters, Brandi and Haelli.  They adopted Haelli a short time later and became guardian of Brandi.  Jamie, their son, blessed them with four grandchildren:  Alissa, Arthur, Axel, and Asher.

She was also blessed with great-grandchildren Kinley, Kamber, Jasper, Harper, Barrett, Colson, and Payton.  She loved spending time with her son, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She liked camping with family, mowing, helping in the garden, canning the things they grew, and helping other people.

She worked at Campbell Soup for 18 years and then worked at the Peru Daycare until her retirement.

On Sunday, August 6, 2023, surrounded by family, Jean passed away at her home in Peru at the age of 71 years, 8 months, and 9 days.  In addition to her parents and daughter Brenda, she was preceded in death by her brothers Floyd J., Paul, and Larry, nephew Brandon Floyd Wamsley, brothers-in-law Ron Simmons, Craig Davis, Jack Reeves, and Ron Reeves, sisters-in-law Marie Simpson, Betty Clark, and Rowena Reeves.
