James Douglas Kuker

September 18, 1946 — April 30, 2018

James Douglas Kuker, one of four children of Louis G. and Nellie J. (Foster) Kuker, was born September 18, 1946 in Barada, Nebraska. He grew up in the area and graduated from Shubert High School.

Doug, as he was known by most people, served in the Army National Guard from 1965 to 1971. During his time with the guard he was deployed at various places around the country for training.

Doug was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed working with the land. He also worked at the Missouri Beef Packing Plant in Phelps City, Missouri for 19 years.

An outdoorsman, Doug loved to hunt and fish. He was known for his skill at shooting pool and enjoyed having family join him to “take a putt” along country roads.

Doug moved to the Good Samaritan Society-Auburn on April 26, 2018. He passed there on Monday, April 30, 2018 at the age of 71 years, 7 months, and 12 days. His parents and brother Russell preceded him in death.

Those left to honor Doug’s memory include his former wife of 27 years Carol Splichal of Auburn; daughters Brenda Mays of Pinetop, AZ; Lori Kuker of Shubert; Tonya (Bobby) Findley of Hermiston, OR; Sasha Rightsell of Auburn; grandchildren Colby (Hyatt) Haynes, Jasmine Loew, Jacob Mays, Madelyn Mays, Sheldon Rightsell, and Meadow Rightsell; great-grandchildren Jalen and Zander Haynes and Elena Carbajal; sister Patricia (Robert) Joy of Falls City; brother Lee Kuker of FL; sister-in-law Sheryl Kuker of SC; other relatives and friends.

Family will greet friends Friday, May 4, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A celebration of life will be at a later date.
