Jack Glen Allen was born July 14, 1950, at the Tushla Hospital in Auburn, Nebraska. He was one of four children of Merle Lester and Gwendolyn Imogene (Henrichs) Allen. Jack grew up on the family farm near Nemaha, Nebraska, attended Maple Grove School, and graduated from Southeast Nebraska Consolidated School in Stella.
On August 12, 1972, Jack was united in marriage to Beverly Ellen Clarke at First Presbyterian Church in Auburn. They lived on a farm east of Auburn, and were blessed with a daughter, Carissa.
Jack was a mechanic for 29 years at Peru State College until retiring in 2019. He also worked the night shift at Shell Spee-Dee Mart in Auburn, where he became known to many local customers as well as those passing through Auburn.
Jack was baptized at the Brock Christian Church in adulthood by Rev. Sid Brueggemann. He was an outdoor guy who loved fishing and hunting. He especially enjoyed coon hunting. Jack enjoyed bowling and helped high school students learn the sport. He had also coached Little League Baseball and loved teaching his players the fundamentals. Watching classic TV series and Westerns was a favorite pastime. Another interest was watching local stock car races and taking Carissa along with him. Mostly though, Jack loved spending time with his family, and was thrilled when he could be with his great-grandson Gavyn.
Experiencing health difficulties later in life, Jack grew weaker in recent weeks. He was rushed to the Nemaha County Hospital in Auburn on Saturday, January 14, 2023. He passed away there later that day, with family around him, having reached the age of 72 years and 6 months.
