Ida Irene (Mann) Feighner, daughter of Charles and Emma (Nelsen) Mann, was born November 18, 1950 in Nebraska City, Nebraska. She started school in Stover, Missouri, and attended other schools in Missouri until her family moved to Auburn, Nebraska, where she graduated from high school.
On October 14, 1966, Irene was united in marriage to Lonnie Ray Feighner in Auburn. They made their home in Auburn, and were blessed with two children, Dellyn and Brandy.
Irene and Lonnie purchased the Whiskey Run bar in downtown Auburn and ran it until 1983. At that time they purchased the defunct State Theater in Auburn, refurbished it, and operated it for several years. In 1991 Irene began working with SENDS, and was still employed there. She served as a job coach, helping the clients with employment in town.
Irene enjoyed camping with family, and spent many weekends at Indian Cave State Park or at sites in Kansas. Grandchildren were at the top of Irene’s priorities, and she loved to babysit or just be with them whenever she could. Irene was always a giving person who was willing to take care of others. She served as caregiver for her husband and two siblings during their times of ill health.
On Sunday, October 30, 2016, Irene was rushed to the emergency department at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. It was there she passed away at the age of 65 years, 11 months, and 12 days. Her parents Charles and Emma, husband Lonnie, brothers Lee Mann, Bill Bowdish, Bob Bowdish, and sister Bonnie Kyser preceded her in death.
Irene is survived by her children Dellyn and wife Stacy Feighner of Gretna; Brandy Feighner of Omaha; grandchildren Allie and Reece Feighner, Brody Feighner, and Darius Boyd;mother-in-law Bessie Feighner of Auburn; sister Jean and husband Richard Graeff of Valentine; brother-in-law Dwayne and wife Judy Feighner of Auburn; sister-in-law Connie Feighner of Auburn; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
A memorial service will be Monday, November 7, 1:30 p.m. at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn. Burial of ashes will follow in Bedford Cemetery at Howe. Visitation will be Sunday noon to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends 6:00 to 8:00.
