Harry (Joe) Allison, the youngest of three children of Harry Kenneth and Evelyn (Stevens) Allison, was born January 22, 1945, in Pawnee City, Nebraska. Joe grew up on the family farm east of Pawnee City graduating from Pawnee City High School in 1963 and later from the University of Nebraska College of Pharmacy in 1968.
On July 19, 1964, Joe married his high school sweetheart, Pamela Farwell of DuBois, Nebraska. To this union they had two sons, Patrick and Brian.
After graduating pharmacy school, Joe worked as a pharmacist at Simon Rexall Drug in Auburn, NE. After acquiring the business in 1976, Joe and Pam would operate Allison Pharmacy until their retirement in 2012, culminating a 44-year career in the Auburn community.
Throughout his life, Joe was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and supported Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, and Whitetails Unlimited. Joe did whatever he could to promote the Auburn community and southeast Nebraska. He enjoyed all levels of athletics. In his early years, he enjoyed attending Nebraska football and basketball games as well as Kansas City Chiefs and Royals, always having enough tickets in hand for sons Patrick and Brian to bring along their friends. As well, Joe enjoyed classic cars and over the years had a number of models that he restored and featured at various car shows throughout the Midwest. Most recently was his prized 1969 GTO that he rode in just a week before his passing.
Joe is survived by his wife, Pam of Auburn; children Patrick (Kristen) Allison of Elkhorn, NE and Brian of San Diego, California. Grandchildren Bryce and Brooklyn Allison, Emmary and Evelyn Allison, Sisters-in-law Diane (Rick) Allison, Patricia Farwell, and Brother-in-law Doug Farwell, and nieces and nephew. Joe was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Evelyn, Parents-in-law Lyle and Dorothy Farwell, brother Jack Allison, and sister Jeanne Mazur.
A Celebration of life will be held Monday, September 19, 11:00 a.m., at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn. Visitation will be on Sunday from noon to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A private family burial will take place in Sheridan West Cemetery at Auburn.
