Gregory Grant Hahn was born November 17, 1953 in Auburn, Nebraska. One of five children of Dick and Beverly (Grant) Hahn, Jr., Greg was baptized February 14, 1954 and confirmed May 25, 1969 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Auburn. He attended school in Auburn and graduated from high school in 1972. After graduation Greg attended Peru State College, and played on the Bobcat football team.
On June 16, 1973 Greg was married to Debbie Ballue at St. Paul Lutheran Church. They were blessed with two daughters, Heather and Megan. This union ended in divorce, and on September 21, 1984 Greg married Diane Heggemeyer in Lincoln. One daughter, Brittany, was born to this union. Greg and Diane later divorced.
Greg enlisted in the United States Army in 1974 and served for three years, mostly stationed in Alabama. After his honorable discharge in 1977 he and his family returned to Auburn.
After living in Auburn for several years, Greg lived in Kansas City, Missouri, Lincoln, Nebraska and Sioux Falls, South Dakota. During this time period he worked in funeral home pre-need sales for Porter & Sons in Kansas City, Roper & Sons in Lincoln, and Miller Funeral Home in Sioux Falls. Greg excelled at this endeavor and worked his way into a management position with Miller?s. As a side job, and to take advantage of his natural talents, Greg also did some ?voice-over? work on television commercials in Sioux Falls.
Greg was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, and belonged to the El-Riad Shrine in Sioux Falls. He loved fishing, music, football, the Atlanta Braves, and entertaining people. Of course his favorite pastime of all was spending time with his grandkids.
After a lengthy and brave struggle with cancer, involving several hospital stays, Greg moved in with his parents in Auburn to spend his last days. With family around him, he passed away at Dick and Bev?s home on Monday, August 15, 2011 having reached the age of 57 years, 8 months, and 29 days. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Greg is survived by his daughters Heather Kreifel of Kansas City, MO; Megan and husband Dustin Moore of Gretna; Brittany and husband Matthew Gulizia of Auburn; grandchildren Trever, Jacob, Cael, and Jackson Kreifel, Kaylee, Blayke, and Brayden Moore, Brant and Crew Gulizia; parents Dick and Bev Hahn of Auburn; brothers Mark and wife Kim Hahn of Overland Park, KS; Brad and wife Sammie Hahn of Aurora, CO; sisters Cyndi Hahn and fiance Steve Abernathy of Auburn; Suzanne and husband Pat Thompson of Lincoln; aunts Alice Hahn of Auburn; Carolyn and husband Bob Gerdes of Bloomington, MN; Laurie Grant of El Toro, CA; Marlene Hahn of Mission, TX; special friend DeAne Hahn; beloved nieces & nephews and countless friends.
