Gary Dee Goering was born July 23, 1945 in Auburn, Nebraska. He was one of six children of Donald and Ella Mae (Williams) Goering. Gary attended school in Auburn, where he graduated from Auburn High School.
Gary was married to Camille Stewart, and they were blessed with two children, Amy and Darrin. The couple later divorced. On August 28, 1976 Gary was united in marriage to Rae Ann Kleckinger at the First United Methodist Church in Auburn. Their union was blessed with a son, Wade, to join the family.
Gary left an impression on whoever he met, he was hard not to like. Whether it was a coworker or a close friend, he always left you with a story to tell. He taught his kids that if you worked hard, helped others, and loved your family, you didn’t need much else in life. Gary spent the last years of his life working with one of his best friends, Mark Harms. No job was too small, they were all important to Gary, but doing Jack chores might have been his favorite.
Gary was a member of the Auburn Country Club and the Auburn American Legion Club. He enjoyed playing cards and watching Gunsmoke or racing on TV. He was a shuffleboard aficionado and really tough to beat at the game. Mostly, Gary loved his family, and enjoyed watching the grandkids and their activities.
On the evening of Thursday, November 7, 2019 Rae Ann rushed Gary to the Nemaha County Hospital in Auburn. Despite the best efforts of doctors and other staff, Gary passed away at the hospital that same night at the age of 74 years, 3 months, and 15 days. His mom and dad preceded him in death.
Among those who will always treasure Gary’s memory are his wife Rae Ann; daughter and son-in-law Amy and Rick Clark of Auburn; sons and daughters-in-law Darrin and Erin of Auburn, Wade and Jenna of Raymond; grandchildren Whitney Clark of St. Louis, Mo; Emma, Jena, Roscoe Goering, and Preston Crawford, all of Auburn; Grayson and Parker Goering of Raymond; siblings and their spouses Delyn and Marcia Goering of Auburn, Wayne and Judy Goering of Nebraska City, Rita and Joe Ingersoll of Auburn, JoEllyn and Steve Neemann of Auburn, Denny Goering of Auburn; parents-in-law Jim and Marilyn Blex of Nemaha; siblings-in-law and spouses Allen Kleckinger, Becky Whisler, Russ and Alicia Blex, Donna Blex, Dianna and Dave Hunter, all of Auburn; many nieces, nephews, and many friends.
