Elizabeth Anne (Allgood) Lopez, daughter of Tyler Eugene and Garnett Leudean (Crabtree) Allgood, was born April 30, 1947 in Auburn, Nebraska. Beth’s father was in the military, so she attended school in several states, graduating from Auburn High School in 1965.
Beth was married to Steve Rainey, and was blessed with two sons, Steven and Christopher. The couple later divorced. On June 12, 1992, Beth was united in marriage to E. Gilbert Lopez at the Nemaha County Courthouse in Auburn. They made their home in Auburn.
In her early years, Beth had worked at Campbell Soup Company in Tecumseh, and the Danny Dare Sewing Factory in Auburn. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #23 in Auburn, and was an avid reader. A special part of her life was her dog, Penny.
After Gil’s passing in 2013, Beth remained in their home in Auburn for a couple of years. When her health failed, she moved to the Madonna Rehabilitation Center in Lincoln, Nebraska. It was there she passed away on Monday, October 2, 2017, at the age of 70 years, 5 months, and 2 days. In addition to her husband Gil, she was preceded in death by her parents.
Beth is survived by her sons Steve Rainey of Red Oak, IA; Chris Rainey and fiancée Melissa Smith of Glenwood, IA; step-daughters Gail Lopez and Laurie Heiserman, both of Lincoln; 2 grandchildren; sisters Susan Peterson and Sally Allgood; brother and sister-in-law Tyler and Georgina Allgood; other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be Friday, October 6, 10:30 a.m. at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn. Burial of ashes will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery at Peru. No visitation is planned.
