Eimer Schlange

April 27, 1925 — September 26, 2022

Eimer Freddie Schlange, son of Fred and Edith (Behrends) Schlange, was born April 27, 1925, in Auburn, Nebraska. He was baptized June 7, 1925, at St. John Lutheran (Stone) Church near Auburn by the Rev. R. Kunzendorf and confirmed April 6, 1947, at Zion Lutheran Church near Johnson, Nebraska by Rev. R H. Riensche. Eimer attended Graf School through the 8th grade and then Brock High School. He received his honorary diploma later in life because of World War II interrupting his schooling.

Eimer entered the U.S. Navy in June of 1944 and served on the USS Hawkins and USS Adirondack. After his honorable discharge in June 1946, he returned to southeast Nebraska.

On March 20, 1953, Eimer was united in marriage to Edith M. Damon at First Presbyterian Church in Auburn by Rev. F.E. Black and Rev. J.N. Slice. They made their home in Auburn, and were blessed with two children, Howard D. and Ann Edith.

After returning from the Navy, Eimer started to work as a carpenter with Louie Haack and later worked with Luverne Cooper. He then went out on his own and partnered with Tri-Co Builders in Auburn on many projects. He enjoyed his God-given talent and was always willing to share it with other carpenters.

Eimer had belonged to Stone Church and Zion Lutheran Church near Johnson, and in 1948 became a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Auburn. He served on the church council, as Sunday school superintendent, and generally helped with about anything that needed done at the church. He was also a member of the American Legion and V.F.W. Eimer liked to build and fly radio-controlled airplanes, and of course anything that involved working with wood.

Eimer passed away Monday, September 26, 2022, at Good Samaritan Society-Auburn. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Wilbur, grandson Patrick Schlange, nephew Ronald Dean Schlange, and niece Marcia Kay Schlange.

Eimer is survived by his wife Edith; children Howard D. and wife Terri Schlange of Independence, KS; Ann and husband Scott Benson of Lincoln; grandson Eric and wife Tayler Schlange of Independence, KS; step-granddaughter Anissa Benson and husband Sam Buller of San Diego, CA; great-granddaughter Kolbi Lakelinn; other family and many friends.
