Donna Mae (Meinzer) Kipling, one of six children of Lewis and Elizabeth (Constantine) Meinzer, was born September 21, 1924 in Falls City, Nebraska. She attended school in Falls City and graduated from high school there in 1943.
On May 7, 1944 Donna was united in marriage to Fenton Kipling in Hiawatha, Kansas. They were blessed with one daughter, Linda. Donna and Fenton settled in Auburn, Nebraska to raise their daughter and live out their lives.
In addition to running her household, Donna worked for 16 years for the Auburn Public Schools until retiring in 1987. She was a member of the Auburn Christian Church, and belonged to the Legion Auxiliary, Eagles Auxiliary, and the Auburn Country Club. Some of her favorite pastimes were golfing, playing bridge, and travelling. She also was a voracious reader, enjoyed cross stitch, and became a big fan of Husker football and volleyball.
After suffering a massive aneurysm, Donna was hospitalized at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. It was there she passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at the age of 87 years, 4 months, and 12 days. In addition to her parents, Donna was preceded in death by 3 brothers, 2 sisters, and her husband Kip in December of 1990.
Donna is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Linda and Dean Jeanneret of Nebraska City; granddaughters and spouses Brenda and Brad Osthus of Eagle; Lori and Michael Peterson of Lincoln; great-grandchildren Nate, Chelsea, Michaela, Alyssa, Gunnar, and Davis; other relatives and many friends.
Memorial services were Tuesday, February 6, 2012 at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn, officiated by Rev. Corey Miller. Special music was played, and inurnment of ashes was in Sheridan Cemetery near Auburn.
Memorials in lieu of flowers suggested to American Cancer Society, Auburn Rescue Squad, or Sheridan Cemetery Association.
