Donna Faulks

Donna Mae (Sloan) Faulks was born March 7, 1946 at Shreveport, Louisiana. She was one of four children of William Charles and Catherine Oletha (Crawford) Sloan. Donna attended grade school in Texas, and in 1965 graduated from high school in Hobbs, New Mexico. She continued her education at Draughons Business College, receiving a Secretarial Degree.

In 1975 Donna was united in marriage to Bill Faulks in Lovington, New Mexico. They were later divorced, and Donna and her boys made their home in the Corpus Christi and Houston, Texas areas. She worked as an executive secretary for various construction companies.

In November on 1989 Donna and the boys moved to the Nemaha, Nebraska area to be closer to her adopted family, Edward and Jeannine Hall. She accepted employment with the Nebraska Public Power District Cooper Nuclear Station in January 0f 1990. She held various positions until her health force her to take and extended leave in November of 2006.

Donna was currently serving as Secretary/Treasurer of the Nemaha Volunteer Rescue Squad, a position she had held for nearly 18 years. She was a Licensed Emergency Medical Technician and was very active in the administration of the Squad. She was also a member of the CNS Medical Response Team, and had held various offices during her employment at the plant. Donna served on the Village of Nemaha Board of Trustees from 1996 until 2000, and was currently a member of the Nemaha County Hospital Trauma Board.

In here spare time Donna enjoyed solving word puzzles and loved to spend time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

Donna passed away unexpectedly at her home in Nemaha on Thursday, February 8, 2007, attaining the age of 60 years, 11 months, and 1 day. She was preceded in death by her natural parents, brother Damon, and her special family members Jeannine, Edward, and Dennis Hall.

Donna is survived by her sons Bodie Faulks of Lincoln; Tami Faulks of Nemaha; Kirk Faulks of Nemaha; grandchildren Te`a, Kaje, and Ty; brother Dennis Sloan of Hobbs, NM; Mike Hall, Bill Hall, David Hall, John Long, Mary Hall, and Peggy Phillips, all of whom she considered brothers and sisters; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 12, 2007 at the Nemaha Christian Church in Nemaha, officiated by Rev. Michael Schmidt. Velma Riddle was vocalist, and Donna Pryor organist. Pallbearers were Shane Wolken, Mark Stevenson, Shawn Phillips, John Rightsell, Steve Grooms, Brandon Wamsley, and Tim Standley. The members of the Nemaha Rural Volunteer Fire Department and and Rescue Squad the Cooper Nuclear Station Rescue Squad served as honorary pallbearers. Burial followed in the Prairie Union Cemetery near Shubert, NE.
