Diane Baumhover

July 30, 1942 — June 30, 2014

Diane Sue (Mahoney) Baumhover, one of three children of Howard and Florence (Kaiser) Mahoney, was born July 30, 1942 in Des Moines, Iowa. She attended grade school in Hastings, Nebraska and graduated from St. Joseph High School in Beatrice, Nebraska.

After high school Diane worked at DeBrown Automotive in Lincoln, Nebraska, where she met her future husband. Diane was married to Loras Baumhover on May 12, 1962 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Beatrice. They made their first home in Lincoln, and would be blessed with five sons.

In 1969 Diane and Loras moved to Auburn, Nebraska, where Diane devoted herself to raising her family and running the household. After the boys were grown she took part time jobs, first at Bradley’s shoe store and later at Lynch’s Hardware and Gifts.

Diane was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Auburn and served in the St. Ann Society there. She also belonged to the Auburn Optimist Club and a bridge club. She enjoyed playing cards, but more than anything loved interacting with people and being with her family.

After being diagnosed with cancer early in 2014, Diane became a resident of Tabitha Journey House in Lincoln for the care she could receive. It was there she passed away on Monday, June 30, 2014 at the age of 71 years and 11 months. Her parents preceded her in death.

Diane is survived by her husband Loras of Auburn; sons and daughters-in-law Steven and Faith of Omaha; Brian and Kim of Papillion; Craig and Natalie of Omaha; Kevin and Betsy of Lincoln; Shaun and Rhiannon of Lincoln; grandchildren Jeff, Jon, Aubree Sue, Grant Wesley, Aidan, and Makenna; brother and sister-in-law Dr. Larry and Bernadette Mahoney of Iowa City, IA; sister and brother-in-law Mavis and Dick Davey of Hastings; many other relatives and friends.
