Delta Marie (Stutheit) Rogge, one of four children of Theodore H. and Ida Wilhelmina (Koehler) Stutheit, was born September 21, 1916 in the family home near Humboldt, Nebraska. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul (Stutheit) Lutheran Church, and attended Long Branch rural school.
On April 10, 1939 Delta was united in marriage to William E. Rogge at Stutheit Church. They made their home in rural Nemaha County and would be blessed with nine children: Milton, Joyce, Leland, Benjamin, Beth, Roger, William S., Susan, and Randall.
Delta was devoted to raising her children. She and Bill partnered in operating their farm. She loved gardening with her children, tending a large vegetable and flower garden.
After their marriage, Delta became a member of St. Paul (Hickory Grove) Lutheran Church near Auburn. She was very active and served in many capacities, including president of Naomi Circle and teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Delta loved quilting at the church. She also made quilts to give to family members and friends. She was a member of the Nemaha County Extension Club and the Nemaha County Hospital Auxiliary. In her spare time Delta could be found painting in acrylics and oils, and she enjoyed playing cards with friends.
After Bill passed away in 1997, Delta continued to live at their home in Auburn until 2003, when she became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society-Auburn. While there she enjoyed visits from family and friends. On April 11, 2010 Delta passed away at Good Sam at the age of 93 years, 6 months, and 21 days. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by sisters Hilda Rogge, Luella Plager, and brother Erwin Stutheit.
Delta is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Joyce and Jack Vaughn of Omaha; Beth and Dennis Flynn of Omaha; Susan and T.J. Kuwitzky of Eden Prairie, MN; sons and daughters-in-law Milton and Holly of Pleasant Dale, NE; Lee and Jan of Pawnee City; Ben and Jo of Blair; Roger and Pat of Tecumseh; Bill and friend Sheran Hibbs of Blair; Randy and Darleen of Lincoln; 24 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Sherie Sapp-Stutheit of Tecumseh; Pat (Mrs. Lawrence) Rogge of Johnson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be Thursday, April 15, 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran (Hickory Grove) Church near Auburn. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Wednesday 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends 6:00 to 8:00.
