Claude Dean Jones, one of four children of Oland and Cornelia (Moore) Jones, was born October 16, 1934, at Brownville, Nebraska. “Buck” as he was known, grew up on a farm near Brownville where he attended school.
On July 7, 1956, Buck was united in marriage to Linda Stiers at Nemaha, Nebraska. The couple would be blessed with four children: Deana, Ben, Jeff, and Kenny.
Buck began farming when he and Linda were first married. He then operated an excavator and drove truck for many years.
In his younger years, Buck belonged to the Heavy Machinery Union out of Omaha. He was a hardworking man but was also known to enjoy a cold beer every now and then. Buck was a good ol’ boy that loved fishing and hunting, and was always willing to help others, but there were only two ways to do things, Buck’s way and the wrong way.
On the morning of February 21, 2022, Buck passed away at his home, surrounded by family, having reached the age of 87 years, 4 months, and 5 days. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Carlene Hensley.
Those left to mourn Buck’s passing include his wife Linda of Auburn; daughter Deana Voit of Auburn; sons and daughters-in-law Ben and Derinda of Auburn, Jeff and Diane of Omaha, Kenny and Sarah of Unadilla; 19 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister Veneta Nincehelser of Brownville; brother and sister-in-law Corky and Peg Jones of Brownville; other relatives and many friends.
Buck's wishes were to be cremated and A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Burial of ashes will also take place at a later date in Walnut Grove Cemetery at Brownville.
Memorials are suggested to family choice.
