Clara Rosanna (Remmers) Hector was born July 22, 1915 on a farm near Herkimer, Kansas. One of seven children of John K. and Eta (Gerdes) Remmers, Clara was baptized September 5, 1915 and confirmed July 26, 1931, both at Immanuel ?Stateline? Lutheran Church at Wymore, Nebraska. She attended Green Valley School #96 near Herkimer. After her schooling was complete, Clara stayed at home to care for her mother and father, as well as nieces and nephews.
On February 14, 1947 Clara was united in marriage to Theodore ?Ted? Hector at Stateline Church. They made their home on a farm southwest of Auburn, Nebraska where Clara helped with the farm work and raised their children Roger, Linda, and Della.
Clara was a member of St. John Lutheran (Stone) Church near their home, where she was active in the church, including being a member of the W.E.L.C.A. She enjoyed the things that went along with running the household, especially raising chickens, gardening, and canning. She loved to cook for the family, and was known to try new recipes often. She often kept a journal of her daily activities. A special hobby of hers was knowing, and remembering with a card and letter, special days in the lives of her family and many others who she came in contact with.
Even after her husband?s passing, Clara was able to stay on the farm until 2004, when an illness forced her to become a resident of Colonial Acres of Humboldt and then the Good Samaritan Society-Auburn. It was there she passed away on Friday, September 25, 2009 at the age of 94 years, 2 months, and 3 days. Besides her husband Ted and her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers and four sisters.
Clara is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Roger and Pam Hector of Humboldt; daughters and sons-in-law Linda and Dr. Mike Nielsen of McCook; Della and James Chonka of Littleton, CO; grandchildren Jennifer and husband Mark Balch, Kristopher and wife Alison Hector, Sarah and husband Nicholas Maas, Amy and husband Robert Stanley, Andrew and wife Laura Nielsen, Adrienne and husband Guang Zhang, and Christine, Stephanie, Steven, and Regina Chonka ; 6 great-granddaughters; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
