Caryll Ethel Bohl Ubben, daughter of Fred and Ethel (Kite) Bohl, was born October 6, 1911 on a farm near Howe, Nebraska. One of five children, she attended Howe school through the eighth grade and graduated from Auburn High School in 1929.
On May 24, 1932 Caryll was united in marriage to Walter M. Ubben. One daughter, Christie Beth, was born to this union. The family lived in numerous communities in Nebraska where Walt served as school administrator. Due to Walt?s declining health, the family moved to Peru in 1961. While there Caryll worked in the business office at Peru State College for 15 years, and they rented apartments in their home to Peru students. After retiring from that position, Caryll moved to Omaha where she worked in the Omaha State Bank for 15 years.
Caryll was a charter member of the Knic Knac Club in Howe. In her later years she enjoyed traveling with her sister Wilma, and also liked to sew.
When she was no longer able to live alone at her home, Caryll became a resident of a skilled nursing facility in Omaha. She was admitted to Methodist Hospital in Omaha, and passed away there on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at the age of 99 years, 4 months, and 23 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Walt, brothers Lyle Bohl, Harold Bohl and his wife Ruby, sister Wilma Cline and her husband John, and brother-in-law Roland Eikmeier.
Caryll is survived by her daughter Christie and husband Ed Myers of Omaha; grandchildren Carrie Myers and Brian Myers of Omaha; sister Shirley Eikmeier of Minneapolis, MN; sister-in-law Opal Bohl of Auburn; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and ?nephews, and friends.
Funeral services were Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn, officiated by Dr. Fred Richart. Special pre-recorded music was played. Pallbearers were Brian Myers, Ken Eikmeier, Scott Oppegard, Mark Oppegard, Jim Gnade, and John Trayer. Burial was in Bedford Cemetery at Howe.
