Bill Vickers

July 29, 1927 — December 17, 2015

Bill suffered a stroke and passed away at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha, surrounded by family.

An Army Veteran, once stationed in Munich, Germany, he spent the majority of his life in the Brownville, Auburn, and Peru areas. Forty-four years have been spent on his farm near Peru, on the Bethel Road.

He was a 28-year employee of Darling Transfer in Auburn, until the business closed.

His interests included racing cars as late as age 75; watching races; collecting cars; and selling melons.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Marge; his parents Frank and Agnes; sisters Ruby, Maxine, Pauline, Crystal; brothers Ray, Byron, and Harold.

He is survived by his children John of Bellevue, Linda and husband Charlie Otts of Schuyler, Jeff and wife Carrie Ann of Millard; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; sister Wilma Kaar of Omaha; brother Wayne and wife Carolyn of Auburn; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Bill Vickers…Son, Brother, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Friend. An 88-year life lived well. Thank you for honoring and remembering him today.

A funeral service will be Wednesday, December 23, 3:00 p.m. at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn. Visitation will be Tuesday, 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with family greeting friends 5:00 to 7:00. Bill’s body will be cremated following the funeral.
