William Irvin Haws was born February 3, 1934 in Minden, Nebraska. He was one of five children of Irvin and Marguerite (Boland) Haws. Bill?s family moved to Rapid City, South Dakota, and it was there he received his formal education.
On September 19, 1957 Bill was united in marriage to Marge Rickman in Auburn, Nebraska. The couple eventually made their home in Auburn.
Bill spent his life driving trucks in various industries. He started in South Dakota driving logging trucks, and later drove concrete trucks in South Dakota and Hastings, Nebraska. He then drove tractor-trailer rigs cross-country, and continued hauling grain in the Auburn area.
Bill loved animals, especially his dogs, and enjoyed fishing in his younger years. Most of his spare time, however, he spent tinkering with his truck.
Bill passed away at his home southeast of Auburn on Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at the age of 72 years, 11 months, and 4 days. He was preceded in death by his wife Marge, parents, brothers Eddie and Donald, and brothers-in-law Jim Kinney and Gary Gardner.
Those left to mourn his passing include his brother Pat and wife Dorothy Haws of Omaha; sister Betty Lee Kinney of Kennewick, WA; sister-in-law Wanda Gardner of Nemaha; brother-in-law Bueford and wife Margaret Rickman of Washington, MI; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Graveside funeral services will be Monday, January 22, 1:30 p.m. at the Nemaha Cemetery near Nemaha. Burial will follow. Visitation will be at the funeral home Saturday noon to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday noon to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends 6:00 to 8:00.
